Euroculture offers great opportunities if you are interested in understanding—and shaping—today’s Europe. Our two-year master's programme is ideal for students who understand that Europe’s future will be shaped not only by economics and politics, but also by struggles over identities, values, and heritage. Our MA programme will equip you with the tools to understand the vital interplay between culture and politics in European society. With an interdisciplinary approach that combines courses from at least two leading European universities with an internship and practical training, Euroculture prepares you to make a difference in careers like diplomacy, international business, research, journalism, cultural management, and European administration.

Selected by the European Commission as an Erasmus Mundus Programme of Excellence, Euroculture is a truly international MA programme. The Euroculture programme is a cooperation between eight European and four non-European universities.
The Euroculture programme aims to prepare graduates for the increasing number of professions and research areas in which knowledge and understanding of contemporary Europe – its peoples, its processes, its institutions – is necessary.

The main objectives of the programme are:
  • To give students a broad understanding of the functioning of European integra tion and an in-depth knowledge of the aspects of European integration that constitute the specialisms of their chosen universities.
  • To teach students the research skills necessary to further their knowledge and carry out exercises of reflection and analysis.
  • To equip students with the communication and intercultural skills necessary for working in an international environment
  • To introduce students to professionals working in various fields of European integration so as to allow for a transfer of expertise and professional competences.
  • To encourage students to construct a network of contacts of their own that will serve as a valuable asset in their professional careers.

Compétences à acquérir

Our interdisciplinary courses offer you a broad and deep training, exploring modern European society through history, political science, law, sociology and cultural and religious studies. We supply you with the skills to see below the surface of contemporary issues.
Our practical, skills based courses, called Eurocompetence modules, equip you with communicative and project management skills. These courses will help you to turn theory into practice and to develop the intercultural skills needed for working in transnational businesses, organisations and networks.
  • study issues that are related to European integration and European institutions from multiple perspectives, focusing on the citizen and culture rather than on abstract models and structures.
  • learn about approaches and methods from different disciplines including social and cultural studies and international relations.
  • study and socialise with people from countries all over the world and from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
  • take part in an international summer school—Euroculture’s Intensive Programme—with around 100 participants from all partner universities.
  • enhance your employability by developing your professional and academic skills and intercultural competences.

Aspect formation et recherche

Euroculture at the University of Strasbourg is hosted by the Faculty of Languages. The programme is also closely tied to the UMR 7363 Sociétés, Acteurs, Gouvernement en Europe (SAGE)
By virtue of its location in a city on the highly symbolic Franco-German border, which is host to several European institutions, organisations, and museums, Euroculture Strasbourg offers two axes of specialist study in line with the areas of expertise of its teaching staff:
  1. The institutions of European integration, most notably the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights, and the European Parliament
  2. Transnational cultural cooperation and shared cultural heritage
In both axes, academics will be joined by our associated professionals working in these domains.
